Breaking the Cycle

Addiction Recovery Skills for Men
8 Week Men's Therapy Group Program

Groups1.png
You have suffered for so long, it's time to break the cycle

Is your drinking, use, or a compulsive behaviour starting to interfere with your relationships or work?

Do you find yourself promising to cut back, then relapsing anyway?

Do you want practical tools, not just "willpower"?

Are you ready to understand why the cycle keeps happening?

Breaking the Cycle

This is an 8-week structured recovery program designed to help men understand addiction, develop practical recovery skills, and build a meaningful life beyond addictive behaviours.

Throughout the program, participants will build their own personalized Recovery Blueprint—a practical guide that brings together everything learned throughout the eight weeks and serves as an ongoing resource for maintaining recovery long after the program ends.

Join our 8-week journey to better understand addiction, strengthen your recovery, and build a life where lasting change becomes possible.

Please Note: This is a structured 8-week program.

You do not need to have achieved a specific period of abstinence or recovery before joining Breaking the Cycle.

This group is designed for men who recognize that their substance use or addictive behaviours are negatively affecting their wellbeing and who are actively working toward meaningful change.

To ensure the group is safe and beneficial for everyone, participants should be:

  • Motivated to pursue recovery and make positive changes.

  • Able to participate consistently in weekly outpatient sessions.

  • Emotionally and medically stable enough to engage respectfully and meaningfully in a structured group setting.

During your complimentary consultation, we'll discuss your goals, current circumstances, and whether this group is the right fit for you. In some situations, we may recommend a different level of care if your needs would be better supported elsewhere.

Please note: This is an outpatient psychoeducational and process group. It is not intended for individuals who require medical detoxification, inpatient treatment, or crisis stabilization.

Key Areas of Session Discussion:

Week 1: Understanding Addiction

Explore how unwanted habits develop, why they persist, and how understanding—not self-judgment—creates the foundation for lasting recovery.

Week 4: Preventing Relapse

Recognize relapse as a gradual process rather than a single event, identify your personal warning signs, and develop practical strategies to intervene early.

Week 7: Identity, Values & Purpose

Clarify the kind of person you want to become, reconnect with your values, and begin building a meaningful life beyond addiction.

Week 2: Understanding Your Recovery Pattern

Identify the emotional, cognitive, and environmental factors that contribute to your own addictive behaviours and recognize the needs they have been attempting to meet.

Week 5: Building a Life That Supports Recovery

Strengthen healthy routines, reconnect with meaningful activities, and develop healthier ways of meeting the needs previously fulfilled through addiction.

Week 8: Maintaining Long-Term Recovery

Develop a personalized Recovery Blueprint that integrates everything learned throughout the program into a sustainable plan for continued growth and recovery.

Week 3: Understanding Cravings

Learn how cravings work, why they occur, and practical strategies to experience urges without automatically acting on them.

Week 6: Relationships & Recovery

Examine how relationships can either support or undermine recovery, strengthen healthy boundaries, and develop practical strategies for building accountability and connection.

Our Goals For You To Take Away From This 8-Week Group Program:

Better Understand Your Behaviours

Develop a deeper understanding of the biological, psychological, and environmental factors that contribute to addictive behaviours, reducing shame and increasing self-awareness.

Who Should Join This Group Program?

Whether you're early in your recovery journey, returning to recovery after setbacks, or looking to strengthen the progress you've already made, this program provides practical tools, structured guidance, and supportive accountability to help you move forward.

This program is best suited for men who are actively engaged in individual therapy (or willing to begin individual therapy if recommended) and are motivated to apply new skills between sessions.
