First Step Men’s Therapy was born out of a simple truth I kept seeing in my work: men often wait until things are falling apart before they reach out for help. By then, they’re exhausted, ashamed, and unsure where to turn. I started this clinic because I wanted to create a space where men could come sooner — before the breaking point — and feel understood without having to defend, perform, or explain themselves.
My goal has always been bigger than my own caseload. I wanted to build something that could serve more men than I ever could alone. That’s why First Step Men’s Therapy is built around a carefully selected team of clinicians who share the same values: warmth, skill, honesty, and a deep respect for the lived experience of men. Each therapist here is chosen not just for their training, but for how they show up as a human being.
While I no longer work one-on-one with most new clients, I stay closely involved in the care you receive. I train, supervise, and support our clinicians so that the quality of therapy at First Step reflects the standards and intentions that led me to create it in the first place. My role is to make sure you are matched with someone who fits your needs — whether that’s help with relationships, anxiety, addiction, identity, or simply learning how to feel again.
What I hope to bring to men’s mental health is something different from the stereotype of therapy as cold or clinical. I believe therapy should feel grounded, respectful, and practical — a place where you can talk about what’s actually happening in your life and start building something better from it. Men deserve support that meets them where they are, without judgment and without pressure to become someone they’re not.
First Step Men’s Therapy exists because too many men have been taught to carry everything alone. My hope is that when you walk through our doors — whether virtually or in person — you feel like you’ve found a place that understands that weight, and a team that knows how to help you put some of it down
