R.P.

Associate Therapist

Registered Psychotherapist

I have always been drawn to people, and over time grown a deep appreciation for the value of sharing and listening intentionally.  My approach to most of my clients is exploring the cognitive and behavioral challenges they face, having an opportunity to understand and challenge one's thoughts and explore novel perspectives for change. Many men I work with want to better understand why they are stuck, lost, or overwhelmed.

I challenge my clients when appropriate to motivate them to work through their resistance or fears, and belief that clients can overcome any obstacles they face when they see a new perspective or approach to their issues. Many men share that they want change, and our goal is to create a strong alliance that can allow us to explore your strengths and experiences. I use a holistic approach to treating the client, incorporating creative and complimentary ways that have been effective for allowing clients to challenge thoughts in a safe and effective way, navigate powerful emotions, and have some success moving forward when feeling stuck.

I have a background within both private practice and community organizations, supporting men of all ages with anxiety, depression, addiction, life transitions, loss and relationships. I have extensive exposure to those struggling with suicidal ideation, and I facilitate trainings for therapist and individuals looking for help in support clients with suicidal ideation as an ASIST Trainer (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). I work with men of all faiths/beliefs and I am able to offer men looking for Christian Counseling a space to better incorporate their Christian faith into our therapeutic treatment plan.

I also enjoy working with nurses, educators, doctors, and other professionals through compassion fatigue, burnout, and personal and professional stress.
