Matt Hackney
Intern Therapist
RP (Qualifying)
Hi, I'm Matt — and I'm here to support you on your journey toward wellness. I focus on helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, whether that means overcoming depression, easing anxiety, managing stress, building confidence, or creating healthier relationships.
With the use of a variety of approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Behavioural Activation I can help you identify concerns, face difficult emotions, and create meaningful space for growth and healing. I can provide practical and useful techniques that help shift focus from dwelling on the past or worrying about the future to fully engaging in the present moment.
As a teacher for many years I have supported children, youth, and families through challenging situations, socio-economic hardships, and relationship issues. I’ve also been there for fellow educators and caregivers experiencing burnout and compassion fatigue, something many in helping professions can relate to.
My approach is grounded in empathy, understanding, and creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard and supported. Taking the first step can be the hardest — so I commend you for being here. Together, we can begin a path toward your goals, your healing, and your growth.
